The Milk in Schools Program has been implemented since 2023.
The program is currently implemented in partnership with Yeremyan Projects, the UN World Food Program and the Eurasian Development Bank.
Through the program, 1350 pupils from 9 schools in Yerevan and Lori Region start their day with a glass of pure, healthy and wholesome milk from Yeremyan Dairy.
The pilot project implemented in Jermuk and Yeghegnadzor schools was extended in 2023 due to the success of the program. On June 27, 2024, a Letter of Intent was signed in Kazakhstan between the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and the Yeremyan Group to continue and extend this program.
The parties aim to join efforts to make high-quality milk available to more schools and pupils in Armenia, thereby promoting healthy eating habits and healthy lifestyles.
Surveys carried out after the pilot program revealed behavioral changes in schools that occurred during the implementation of the program.
Baseline, interim and final measurements of the program showed that children's willingness to drink milk increased from 47 percent to 73 percent. Most parents interviewed said that their children started to enjoy drinking milk and it impacted their health and concentration. 53 percent of students stated that they have also started drinking milk at home several times a week.
34 percent of children often choose to drink milk during the summer holidays and 45 percent sometimes. 56 percent of parents stated that their children started eating fewer sugary, unhealthy snacks and drinking fewer carbonated drinks after consuming milk.
